Today was a great day for a walk in the forest. There wasn't much wind, the sun was shining and a nice layer of snow covering most of the ground. All in all a wonderful view.
This photo was taken today from my balcony. As you can see there's still a little snow. There's more snow expected over the weekend but I can't wait till till it gets warmer again ;)
Today has been a particularly cold day. With a strong wind and the temperature well below 0 degrees Celsius I'm really looking forward to spring and summer. Nice warm weather, nice music and being able to wear a t-shirt till late in the night.
Unfortunately the weather of the last two weekends wasn't really nice. Just grey the entire days. So I haven't been out to take photos and therefore I had to be creative to have one uploaded.
For this photo I used a mirror, a light, a living color lamp and a bicycle rear light to produce this photo. I'm actually pretty pleased with the result.
This photo was taken in the spring of last year during a performance of the Reba Russell Band in the NiX BBBlues club. If you love blues and live in Enschede or close to it, you have to check their agenda (click here - and then on agenda) and visit this truly amazing blues temple.
Yesterday, a month ago, a historical 100.000 people marched through the streets of Copenhagen to demand real solutions to what is going to be the biggest threat to humanity in the history of our existence, if we don´t act.
We have lost the battle but we do not have the luxury to lose the war!
This picture was taken during the midwinter festival a month ago. As mentioned in a previous post it was pretty cold that day. The comfort of a warm fire was well appreciated.
This weekend we've got some new snow. It has been a long time ago since we've got so much snow. Always interesting to see that only a couple of centimeters of snow can seriously disrupt our society. Somehow we never seem to be prepaired for it. Well at least it offers some nice photo opportunities.
This picture was taken during a performance in London by the Palestinian hip hop group Ramallah Underground in the summer of 2009. In the background they played very explicit footage of the Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people since the establishment of the state of Israel.
January 2010 marks the first anniversary of the Israeli attack and invasion of the Gaza Strip. And although the Israeli tanks have left, the complete closure of the borders continues.
In the park I mentioned in one of my previous posts you can find these trees. I liked how they looked fully covered in snow. Unfortunately it was getting pretty cloudy again so the colour of the snow is a bit bluish.
Bikes covered in snow after last weekends snow. I like how the spikes in the wheels of the bike which lies on the ground are still visible. It gives it a nice cartoonesc look.
This picture was taken in a park just 5 minutes walking from where I live. If the weather allows it I try to go out in the weekends to take some pictures. Most of the fall and mushroom pictures you'll find in this blog are taken in this park.
Last night we finally got a decent amount of snow here in Enschede, about 10 cm. It offers great photo opportunities.
This picture was taken roughly on the same spot as this one which I took in the fall. I love the seasonal differences, eventhough I don't like the cold.
In the Netherlands you are only allowed to set off fireworks on new years eve between 10:00 in the morning and 02:00 in the night. Just like last year a stunning 65 million euro was spent on fireworks in the Netherlands alone. Admitted it looks nice but there are so many other things that could be done with that amount of money.
In this picture you see my friend Tim rotating a piece of fireworks and due to the long shutterspeed it gives this nice effect.
This picture was taken at a friends house where I spent new years eve. Today we already live in 2010. I can remember the millenium party like it was just a year ago. Time flies, so make the best of it.
